The League of Women Voters of Minnesota, in partnership with the Minnesota Reformer and the Leagues of Duluth, Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Mankato, is hosting a series of nonpartisan community conversations this fall about what is at stake in the 2026 midterm elections.
These events are designed to help Minnesotans better understand how our elections are administered, why they remain safe, secure, and accurate, and what each of us can do to strengthen public trust in our democracy. Each conversation will feature a local election official, a journalist from the Minnesota Reformer, and League representatives, with participation from the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office when available. Together, they will discuss election administration, election security, public confidence, and the vital role informed citizens play in protecting free and fair elections. The format is conversational and audience-focused, with plenty of time for questions and discussion.
Topics may include:
- How Minnesota's election system ensures elections are free, fair, and accurate.
- The safeguards that protect election integrity and security.
- What happens from Election Day through certification.
- The challenges election officials face, including recruiting and retaining election workers.
- How communities can support election officials and strengthen confidence in our election system.
- What Minnesotans can do to help protect and promote trusted elections.
