“Medical Aid in Dying”
Dr. Rebecca Thoman, LWV Minneapolis

Wednesday, January 19, 10 am via Zoom

Co-sponsored by UUCD (GEMS)
 and LWV of Duluth
Picture

Dr. Thoman, League of Women Voters of Minneapolis, and representative of
Compassion and Choices will share information about companion End-of-Life Options bills: SF1352 and HF 1358. Introduced on February 22, 2021 in the Minnesota Senate and House, these bills have been assigned to respective Senate and House health committees.
State legislators have been invited to join us.

More Information:
Both bills allow a terminally ill, mentally capable adult with a prognosis of six months or less to live, who is a resident of Minnesota, the option to request, obtain and take medication — should they choose — to die peacefully in their sleep if their suffering becomes unbearable. The bills are modeled after the Oregon Death with Dignity Act, which has been in practice for 20 years without a single instance of abuse or coercion.

Excerpts from the documentary film When My Time Comes will be shown.  If possible, but not required, please view the film in advance using one of these options: PBS if you are a Passport Member  Amazon for $3.99   Apple TV subscription
